Nail Bracing

PXL_20240416_014200815Ingrown or curved toenails are a common occurrence which can result from genetic traits of a nail, previous nail trauma or incorrect nail care. While it’s possible for a podiatrist to manage ingrown nails through regular care and maintenance, chronic ingrown nails require more complex care and can impact activities of daily living.

Nail bracing is a new innovative treatment for chronic ingrown or curled toenails. It involves the application of a rigid brace placed at the back of the nail which will correct the sides of the nail as it grows. This correction allows for the sides of the nail to grow out free from the sides of the toe, relieving pressure and preventing any irritation from the nail. We are now utilizing nail bracing treatment as an alternative to nail surgery with promising results. This has allowed us to extend an effective option to patients with ingrown toenails where surgery is not the desirable option.
